Annual Dance Competition

Additional Rants : Anyone notice how the story line of Orphan and Murderer is the SAME?!?!?!


Dance had always been a part of me. Since secondary school days.

I remember vividly the very first dance I did in Form 1. It was a song by Point Break - Stand Tough. Wow can't believe those days also we copy dances from youtube eh?

But my little dancing "career" only sparked when I entered University, because I happen to mix with people who love dancing.

On the 8th of Sept 09, was IMU's annual Dance Competition. And of course, it's a must watch event on my list. To think just last year we were crowned champions. Me ShuYee Karmen Chloe Seeki. Known as Estrella. *click*

There were a few groups performing. But I'm gonna show you two groups in which tied for the first place.

1st group : Masquerade.



I have to say, they were pretty good!! They were crowned champions in the end. Apart from lack of originality due to copying of Jabbawockeez (from season 1 of America's Best Dance Crew) trademark mask + gloves, plus the copying of duet dance from "So You Think You Can Dance" the story line, and the steps were pretty much impressive. After all, my dance crew also always copy video's anyways. Lol. Some parts were a little too drama I felt. And the slow songs kinda felt cheating cos they have less moves. But overall it has a nice flow.


2nd Group : Extreme



I've seen them practise in dance studio many times before. And I've to say their performance on the day itself was the BEST. It was neat, tight, and energetic. Their disadvantage was that they didn't have many seasoned dancers unlike "masquerade". But hey. They came in 1st runner-up, which was good as well (they tied for 1st place but lost in the solo battle). Best of all, is that their dance story was original. Of course sure got steps copy from videos, but their concept is original. Lol

There was also the committee dance and the Judges dance afterwards.

Judges Dance


All time favourite Girl and Guy dancer - ShaoWen and Jay. They are at least one level above all of us.
