City of Angels

Finally, internet connection somewhere! Just to update, I’ve been internet-less the past 2 days, because my dorm’s connections need a key encryption code and its so troublesome because I don’t have a University ID yet, so everything is not possible. Me and Zhi Ven gave up and when hunting for starbucks and Yay! Connection!

Before I start lets side track a bit.

Yay me and JessJess now is have couple camera. Actually, more like BFF camera. Happy Madness (but sobsob I not in Msia to have BFF camera sessions with her nemore. Nemai one more year!)

So lets start from the teary incident at the airport. Alright, I’m not gonna deny, the moment I left my family at the airport, I teared like bucketsful of water in the plane, at the immigration, in the train cabin. Well, I’ve been living at home for the past 3 years, and have somehow grown closer to my family.

And then, after the gates, its me and Zhi Ven all alone once again. Time for both of us to grow up and be a proper adult. Well, the plane ride is not pleasant at all. Gosh, 18 hours of time wasted just sitting in the narrow cabin, risking a DVT, and waiting in Taipei.

Sit until you "da-lan-zhan". Thank god we made a brilliant decision to stop by Los Angeles for 3 days to have some fun before coming all the way to Philadelphia. I cannot imagine going through another 8 hours of flight time immediately after the ordeal.

So, there were we, in the City of Angels. I have no idea why its called Angels. But Zhi Ven's dad's friend, Uncle Alan picked us up from the airport to his lovely home. Well, his house is exactly like in the movies. Garage and all. I was kinda acting jakun-ish a little. Roar.

Oh that's me beside the car by the way. The weather there was about 14 Celsius, been raining a few days, so it's kinda gloomy. I personally have cold-intolerance. Despite the intensive training in IMU's library, I still freezed! Hence I pulled out my new trench Momma n Pappa bought for me over the holiday period, and put it to good use. Thanks mom n dad, love ya guys.

Dinner that night was American. Burgers and fries to be precise. Daniel Tan told me before I left, "when in California, visit In-and-Out, its Godlike, and the BEST of the BESTEST burger on earth" So, for Ven's sake, we had dinner at In-and-Out. Why did I say for Ven's sake? Because they only serve 3 types of burger. Cheese Burger, Double Cheese Burger, and Burger without onions. All BEEF. And me can't eat beef. So I munch on fries and sip milkshake to fill myself. (Luckily I'm a small eater).

Uncle Alan's kids were all animal lovers. They love pets. Let me intro you to the 2 most cutest pet in their house.

Meet Lucky. . . . .

And Hammie (I dunno hammie's name so I just call Hammie k!)

So after a crazy night of sleep, and by crazy I meant that by 4am both me and Ven were awake, and were Msn-ing with our families at home, the next day, we decided to head to Universal Studio!!! But before that, breakfast at Carl's Jr.
Here's how a diner looks like. Very much like in movies eh!

Carl's Jr breakfast was awesome. American food generally taste much better in America than the franchise in Msia. Duh right, common sense. The cheese in the burger was the best man. Didn't take a picture, cos we were too hungry.

Afterwards, it was. . . . . .

UNIVERSAL STUDIO!!!!!!!!!

The place is awesome. I mean, I am a big fan of themeparks and playing dress up and lovely characters, cartoons, yada yada yada. So I was totally enjoying myself over there. TeeHee.

We met so many characters.

Shrek!
 Marilyn Monroe
Scooby Doo as well.

There was the donkey from Shrek as well, but I can't find the pictures so nvm. Haha.

And of course, its UNIVERSA STUDIO man. Famous for Movie productions. So we definitely has a guided tour around the area. Let me run you through several interesting movie sets.

The car of Batman in Dark Knight.
Flying cars from the explosion scenes in Too Fast Too Furious.
The house in Desperate Housewives.
The crashed plane in War of the Worlds.

Oh, and you know why Americans have obesity problems? Yes its the burger, yes its the fries, yes its the milkshakes and the tons of cheese cheese and cheese in every single dish. And yes its the deep fried food as well.

And check this out!
Caramelized apples. (I've seen this in Msia before, but never of such variety, and never so HUGE)
Jelly Beans in all sorts of flavours! ZOMG!

And if you're thinking, cheh this want anywhere also got wert, just Jelly beans only marh, Candy Empire in Sg also got (and btw Candy Empire import sweets from America -zip your mouth), wait till you see this.

A Gazillion selection of Jelly beans ALONE. And a bobbing head of a very happy Ven. And this is only one fraction of the shop. CRAZY man. (If you're still not impress don't be potong and just click the red box on top kthxbye)

Ven and Chucky. I dunno why but he loves eery character. =( He keeps bugging me to watch Nightmare on Elm's Street which is coming out soon in America.

Oh and I found this lovely cute bottle in US (US is for Universal Studio btw, at first when people kept asking me am I visiting US in LA I got a bit confused like, I am in US d wert, what mean visit US again?)
And my family says I SUPER DUPER LOOK LIKE MY SIS here. So much so my sister has doubts if she sleep walked to America or not. Hahaha.

That's how I spend my 1st and 2nd day in Tian Shi Cheng (City of Angels).
