we are the champions, my friend!!!

oh yea oh yea, we are the champions champions champions..

the four of us who made it : TY, me, hueyning, and chloe

lemme start from the start, last friday was the closing date for signing up for the chinese singing competition. hours b4 the thingi close, we submitted our names under the composing category seeing there were oni 4 other participants. tot we could try it out. original band members were me, hueyning, christy, and TY

at that point of time, my song was oni half done, so to overcome this 1st hurdle, i spent the whole fri night composing the remainding of it. sat at my out-of-tune piano, n played n played n brain stormed the whole night.

finally, the piece is done, BUT!! christy msged me n said her mommy is against her joining this thingi, cos she's been over committed in so many things!!

that was the 2nd major hurdle we had. so on monday, i begged n begged hueyning at 1st to learn up the piece, den asked chloe as well. since chloe stayed at vista (hostel), she doesnt have a keyboard to practice on. so she gotta go over to hueyning's hse to use her piano.

tues morn was jamming. since the committee mentioned dat top 5 of composing will make it to finals, we tot we were in for sure, so we din wanna play the whole song out.. so we practiced 2 mins worth of it oni.

tues night itself was sound check as well as mic check. we met our 3rd hurdle there. seems to me the committee decided to only let top 3 enter final. thats when we start panicking.. i quickly scheduled a jamming session again on wed morn when the auditions in on wed night itself!!

wed morn, the 2 keyboards managed to synchronize the whole songs nicely, but our 4th hurdle decided to appear then. our drummer mr. TY was hospitalized for a sprained ankle. meaning he will almost definitely miss the auditions. so we gotta try get thru auditions wo him.

nervous n panicked, especially when i have problem memorising my lyrics, my friends all saw the weak-gonna-break-down-side of me. but we did managed to put up a gud show n made it into top 3.

last night was "the" night, whereby the finals of the chinese singing competition were.

we girls were excited by it, but somehow i wasn't as nervous as wed night cos this time i could remember my lyrics. just as we thought everything could go on smoothly mr hurdle no. 5 had to show his face!! hueyning's keyboard was out of tune cos the previous user tune it higher!! ended up having to ply the song w drums n piano oni, no synth. poor ning, she gotta stand at her keyboard and pretend to play.

after everything that happened, i guess this is an amazingly fulfilling experience. 1stly, we manage to present our song to audience, and most of them liked it. its like gaining recognition. 2nd up, i've bonded really nicely w my band members. 3rdly, we get the adrenaline rush whenever we perform, or being announced champions or whenever. it beats the boring monotonous life anytime. 4thly, we may be able to land a gig in uni whenever the need arises!! oh and 5thly of course the prize la.. one foot-long trophy, 2 hampers, and rm 100 cash!!

actually, after reviewing back our performance (i video-taped it) i found it wasnt very gud. there's much room for improvement, my voice was trembling so badly. and i realise i wasnt using the full impact of it. cos i was afraid of the mic being so loud. plus i went off key like 928391287323 times.. thank goodness our competitors arent so good!! =P
