Happy 20th.

Its quite sucky for all chinese-couples-who-aren't-married that Valentines Day have to fall on the 1st day of Chinese New Year this year. Means no sharing this special day with the other half, but instead, some are torn states apart in their own hometowns exchanging ang pao's.

But Valentines Day is a day to be shared with loved ones, and that also means, beloved moms, dads, grandpapas, grandaunts, cousins, in other words, "family. Hence this Valentines day is actually a double hit, where it makes the festive CNY season more meaningful cause everyone is together. (except for non-married couples ).

I never believed in celebrating Valentines day  on Feb the 14th itself. Been there once, and regretted it. It was not fun, not cheap, and not really memorable. The only thing that kept me sane was the thought that it was "Valentines" and nothing should spoil my mood.  Restaurants are packed to the brim, roses are expensive like diamonds, and everywhere is filled with couples. No quiet spots, no movie tickets available, and some places are even blocked, and barred unless you have prior reservations.

My Valentines Day this year, was just like any year, brought forward, and not on Feb 14th itself. Instead, it was on the 4th of Feb (the 1 is so small you hardly notice it right?). And I was greeted by a package early in the morning.

Feb 4th is our 20th month anniversary. Which makes the date all the more meaningful. I won't want to brag or exaggerate or anything. But whats lying inside the purple pack bundled by silver ribbons really brought tears to my eyes (or it might've been contact lenses problem, I dunno). Well, I never expected anyone (apart from my parents) to go through such extent in getting me a gift. Touched I would say. I'll tell you whats inside later. Hehe . . . . s-u-s-p-e-n-s-e.

So lunch was on me, I supposed. Ven brought his borrowed DSLR for us to play with that day, and hence all the nice pictures (of course also got a bit of editting from almightly picasa-who-saves-lifes). We decided on Kampachi, rather I wanted Kampachi because its pseudo-Vday and Japanese never gets it wrong. Hence JapJapJap food!

Kampachi Maki. Yummmm.

Soft Shell Crab. Mmmmmm.

And our bento lunches. Ven had some scrambled eggs rice with Unagi. I had cod fish in terriyaki sauce. Ahhh it was heaven heaven with lotsa clouds and angels.

And after lunch, we wanted to do something together. Thought of spa, massage, or pedicure perhaps. But alas, all three ideas were not very feasible (too last minute, plus not enough time), therefore we decided to have desserts! Once again, on Vday the Japs don't get it wrong! Hence JapJapJap desserts!!

You guessed it. MOF it is!

Now the very night before, Ven was up all night trying to fix this english high tea concept of a meal for me. Because I love high teas. But alas, some of the items failed (its okay its the effort that counts). Therefore we settled for what is left of it. And the success items. Here's a showcase of Ven's effort!

Strawberry stuffed with some cream (sorry no idea what it was)

Meringue!! (Just the way I like it, not diabetic sweet, and with strawberry jam)

Well, not much of a dinner I'll say, but, if your name starts with a Lim, followed by a Pei ends with a Wen, its definately enough. After munching all the strawberries and finishing about 3 meringue, I could no longer eat anything more. Even when Ven's mom offered a real proper dinner. I am a sucker for strawberries man. Yum!!!
Seriously, my baby is the BEST!

Oh and whats wrapped inside the purple package ladies and gentleman????? That's a story for another day. Adios!! Hahahah Lagi S-U-S-P-E-N-S-E!!!!!!
