Today is one of those RARE days.

I can't believe it, but the smallest things make me happy. At least for today. And everything went well today. Let me tell you, this is one of those RARE days, cos every other day I am just tired and energy-less.

So my day started with my resident telling me my presentation skills have improved. And proceeded with me bumming into Ven (first time ever in the hospital) at the nursery when I was going to remove someone's bandage.

Okay lor, little little things that elevate my mood by 1/10000000000. Then comes 9am, when a patient I saw previously in the ultrasound clinic who came for a PUBS procedure (percutaneous umbilical blood sampling). Very cool procedure. They put a needle into the mom's belly to transfuse blood to the baby. And I was assigned "the runner".

You know how everytime someone dissect a tumour in the OR someone runs to the lab to get it sampled to see if they get the margins clear? So this time each time they collect fetal blood the "runner" runs to the lab to get it read for Hgb and Hct. And I was the "runner". Felt kinda nice to be doing something instead of just shadowing. And I had to climb 8 flights of stairs up and down twice to get to the lab. I got my exercise for the year liao.

Then came lunch, in which I made the most delicious salad (without me noticing it). I just bought greens from the market and threw grapes and oranges in with some nuts. Didn't expect it to taste so yummy.

And then, when I was back to the hospital floors, one patient when into labour. And my attending shoved me into the spot and told me that I get to deliver this baby. MY FIRST!! The whole process was so unreal because I never imagine I would get a chance to deliver babies (since there were so many other interns on the floor). Yay!! Happy max.

Then my chief resident decided to pimp me tons of questions. In which thank god I studied for it before, and I think I did pretty okay. And then she send me home half an hour earlier! Which means I have more time, and I decided to make myself a yummy dinner + tomorrow's lunch. And it was so awesome. I haven't cooked in like 5 weeks because this rotation is killing me, in terms of sleep deprivation (we work 13 hours a day). And I made something simple, which turned out to be super yummy. (made ikea sauce with prawns and steam ready made little dragon dumplings - xiao long bao).

And now, I shall go to bed.

One of my RARE days.
