The name of the festival reflects the season well. It is mid-autumn after all. Last year this time, I was busy slaving away for exams, bought a box of mooncake and threw 2 away (because they weren't yummy and I couldn't finish). Made plans to have a little celebration with some friends but ended up not celebrating. Volunteered at the chinatown Jefferson booth for kids to play with some healthy eating games.
HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL!
This year, Lay Queen's mom send over mooncake and lanterns. So we had our fair bit of fun. After all, 4th year schedule is so much more relaxing. Had a little rooftop celebration, trying to keep our lanterns from being blown away by the wind or being burned.
There were originally 5 lanterns. Mr Fong burned my lantern into ashes. Sobs.
We spotted fire sparkles in chinatown when we were there for lunch in the afternoon. Fire sparkles are illegal in Malaysia, and we bought some back to play. Haha. Yay!
Multi coloured sparkles
The weather was very chilly and windy that night. We even had pop-pops to play with. Mr Fong allowed me to throw pop-pops at his body for burning my lantern. Sadist happiness. Nguahahaha.
My Sparkles!
The made-in-china mooncakes
(I hope this was not frozen and kept from last year)

Little Vi-Zanne came over to play with us too. Had much fun. Was a short but simple celebration.
Last mid-autumn festival, my parents saved the snow skin moon cake into the freezer so that when I was home in December I get my chance to savour the yummilicious delicacy. This year I am not so lucky. Won't be home till March of next year. Any mooncake stored in the freezer will grow fungus by then.
So I made some!
Verdict : Easy to make, smells the same, looks the same, feels the same. But somehow, doesn't really taste exactly the same. The red bean paste was self-made too, so the texture was a little different. But beats not having any to eat. Hope the rest liked it.
And once again,
HAPPY MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL TO ALL!
