The main answer would be --- EAT
There's a whole WikiPage on Sandakan. And what is there to be done there.
Here's what I did. Well apart from eating, in which I have already told you here.
We made a fool out of ourselves whenever we can. Being monkeysdonkeysbananas. Camwhoring is an integrate skill. And making fools do foolish stuff in front of the camera? -- totally possible.
"Built and decorated in 1987 at a cost of around US dollar 2 million, the temple is a blaze of red and gold, with writhing dragons, gilded Buddhas, hundreds of gleaming lamps and the fragrances of burning incense"
The view there is really breathtaking. It shows the coastal line of Sandakan, the small town buildings, and an endless stretch of the sea ( you know how much of a sea person I am).
But I guess life just had to go on.
We also visited the orang utan sanctuary. also known as sepilok. Man, we were kind of unlucky because only ONE orang utan showed up. and A WHOLE SWARM OF MONKEYS!! but only one orang utan.
One orang utan. After all the waiting and the sweat and getting scolded by some fussy caucasian for being too noisy.
Well, we also went to see this!!
But it was an eye opening experience. Elaine also had a lot of fun torturing and scaring us.
There crocodile performance they have was by far the LAME-est animal show I have ever seen. They have performance like,
dancing with the crocodile --> in which they carry the crocodile on their back *small ones of course* and the TRAINERS DANCE, with the crocodiles stagnant on their backs.
posing with crocodile --> the trainers lie on the crocodile's back and strike a peace sign.
hugging crocodile --> which means hugging the crocodile
only semi interesting part was the put-hand-in-crocodile's-mouth.
Time's running out. My nerd time has arrived. Will update a lil more on the trip later.
