Charity Food Sale

I forgot this happened until I opened my Facebook. I MAKE THE CHIO-EST CUPCAKES!!!!

It all started one fine day, when Penny gave me a text asking "Pei-Wen, can you make 30 of your AWESOME cupcakes so we can sell during our food fair for charity? Pweety please!!!" (Okay I added the AweSome and the Pwetty myself to add drama effect)

Next thing I knew, I was up early morning the next day and on my way to Ven's house (cos my house oven spoil) and both of us where pouring floor all over the kitchen counter and throwing eggshells everywhere. Owh, not to mention feeding dogs with extra cupcake parts.

And whoalllaaaa. I put my cupcake decorating lessons to very very good use! Best course I've ever attended all thanks to Jean darling!

Wa so pwetty I myself melt when I see it.

Okay correction. WE MAKE THE CHIO-EST CUPCAKES (its a team effort btw me n Ven).

I even made a customized one which was mad chio I didnt want to eat it but in the end also I didnt get to see much of it cos I left it at Ven's house and it went missing afterwards although he promise to bring to me the next day. Nao its goneeeeee.

The food fair was held at IMU's atrium. And my group members made delicious potato salad and pasta. I didn't get to try the potato salad it was sold out so so so fast, but I manage to try the pasta because I became kiasu and bought one immediately! Super yummy!

And Ven was so fascinated with his camera he challenged himself into snapping other people's unglam pictures of eating.

On an unrelated note. I made Oreo Cheesecake too. Yummy to the max.

My Date Night

After all these months, me and Ven has basically been on countless of dates. Movies, fancy high class restaurant, road side mamak, shopping malls, home cook meals, pointless drive around the city, being caught in jams  . . . . . . . . . (and the list goes on and on and on).

But the most memorable date I ever had, have to be the Valentine's Day of 2010.

I am a MAJOR fan of english breakfast and tea. And a maniac when it comes to finger food, scones, and fruit flavoured tea. And that very night, I was treated with the idea of having our own private tea party.

Why only treated leh? Because. . . . . everything he attempted to bake major fail. Haha. We were left with only strawberries and cream and hardened Meringue for our pathetic dinner.

Eventhough we ended up filling our stomachs with IndoMee cooked my his maid, and drinking Ribena, it was sweet, and the effort alone made the date worth while.

’poster’

Now nuffnang gimme those tix. Thanks!!!

Broga Hills

A place well described by many many other bloggers. A place always mentioned by friends and family. A hill.

WTF I see the word "hill" also I got goosebumps already. I never like hiking or climbing hills. But everyone keeps saying Broga hill is very beautiful, and that its a must-go place. And even 80 year old nai-nai can climb also. So when daddy suggest climbing Broga hill my brain was torned into two decisions. To follow, or not?

In the end also I followed cos Ven is coming along with his DSLR so mean we'll get a lot of chio pictures.

Ven's very first try at Ulead picture editting.

Climbing Broga hill is no fun alright. First we need to wake up at the wee hours of the morning, drag ourselves out of bed just to plonk ourselves into the car and continue sleeping while poor daddy have to drive roughly an hour down south to Semenyih.

By the time we were there, there were amazingly a lot of cars parked at the foot of the hill and AMAZINGLY a lot of people everywhere we go. The climb uphill was so so so slow because of the crowd. And the wind was so strong that those idiots polluting the fresh air with cigarette scent was actually puffing their cancerous lung filled tobacco air in my direction. *cough cough*

View on the 1st peak

Broga have four peaks. When we reached the 1st peak it was still dark. We were all waiting for the sun to rise so that we can catch a pretty picture of the horizon. But meh, the clouds were too packed that day that the sky brightened with no indication of the rising sun. By the time we knew it the sun was already above our heads.

By the time we reached the 2nd peak, we were in already broad day light. That is when we noticed the Lalangs. Broga hill is full of Lalangs. The entire place is so lalang-fied that everything looks very pretty. Like being in a paddy field. Didn't know the lalangs we hate so much can also create scenic picture.

Lalangs are wierd beings. From an angle they all look white and fresh, from another angle they all look brown and unhealthy. So of course we kept hogging the white and fresh angle!

View of the 3rd peak.

When we finally reached the 4th peak, we get to snap a memorial picture of this!

Ahahaha. Okay 400m is major achievement for me okay. Although I was more annoyed about the mosquitoes and the smoking idiots instead of feeling tired and sweaty. But hey, my calves ached the next day. Good work out.

So do visit Broga for a lalang-fied experience if you want too. Just google "broga" and you'll get tons of instructions teaching you how to get there. That's what my daddy did.

Dance Dance

Another dance. And yes, for another recruitment drive. I think I've performed for almost all the recruitment drives. Haha.

Same ol routine this time. Including MJ and Womenizer. Only diff is we scrap tango because changing is so tedious. And we have light! Lolz.

We stole this move from Super Cru, ABDC Season 3. Haha

Artistic shot of us.

Me and MeiXin

Video's up! Watch!

Part 2

Reason why there are 2 parts cos the music was suddenly turned off in the middle of the dance. Hehe

The fear or the excitement?

3 days ago I sat through an excruciating wait at the US embassy just to have a visa issued. The amount of hassle before that was tremendous. Having forms sent to and from the States to my home, sitting through endless hours browsing through information and details on the whole process. Worse of all, I need to juggle these with spending family time and with friends, and continue dancing as much as I can because god knows if I'll be able to do so anymore.

Life isn't so exciting after all. The initial talk about visiting Disneyland, or Niagara Falls, or New York has faded away. What lies ahead, is a whole road of uncertainties. I keep wondering if I can blend well with the fellow IMU-nians travelling with me, wondering if I can get used to the open-culture, get used to the food, whether I can juggle cooking with washing and studying, hoping I won't get distant from my family etc etc etc.

These days I've been avoiding western food, thinking every bit of roast meat is a waste of stomach space which could have been filled with XiaoLoongBao's or Chinese delicacies. I am paranoid there isn't curry or barley in the States. I keep thinking I will lose Aussie friends because of the difference in our Summer breaks. I am almost certain I will never get to dance anymore. And I haven't been to Bangkok, or Krabi, or Vietnam, or Perhentian, or eat Bak Kut Teh at Klang, or seafood at Pulau Ketam or visit Universal Studio Sg. So little time left yet so many things to do.

Everything familiar and close to me hits a reset button the minute I land in the foreign land.

I know, I am over-thinking things. So did a gazillion people tell me so. But I just can't help it. I wanna transport my entire family and friends to the States, or transfer the entire Thomas Jefferson University back to Malaysia. I wonder if this pre-departure syndrome hits everyone who is going overseas for the 1st time (Sg don't count). Feels like I might never get to live the Malaysian life anymore (2 mths a year don't count either).

All the sisterly talks, the IMU-gossips, the hunt-for-good-food nights, the mamak-yumcha's, the late night HokkienMees, the cheap movie marathons, I bid you a temporary goodbye. Temporary because I will return to Malaysia again. Someday. Maybe in 20 years time. Haha. For the time being. Imma gonna be as Malaysian as possible.

Don't get me wrong. I am not emo-ing. I am just paroxymally-sentimental.

Malaysian Food!

I am trying to eat as much Asian delights as I can before I depart.

One crazy attempt was to savour the "melt in your mouth" Ice Kacang at Kepong. It was for supper, and my sister has class at 8am the next day. Made dad a little unhappy but well, for good food, or rather dessert, and to satisfy my stomach, I urged them all to go.

Ven followed because I didn't know the way!! But now I do. Turn right at Jusco Kepong, then turn left at 2nd traffic light. (simple!)

Heavenly "melt in your mouth" ice kacang wei

Sis enjoying the aroma and taste! Haha

Tour guide!

The place is kinda run down actually. There are other stalls there too. There is a "small fry" stall (fry those hokkien mee, what-tan-hor, yin yong etc.) There is also a satay stall, and I chicken wing stall.

Chicken wing not THAT fantastic la. The best is still the honey glazed ones in Kota D'sara.

Actually, right now I am still craving for MOS burger. Super random I know.

@ My previous MOS burgur visit in Sg during 1st week of March

VenVen just bought new lens (actually its a gazillion days ago). Which takes super chio pictures of people. I show you a few non-editted pics for you see.

I dunno why, but I prefer taking picture vertically. As in portrait view in stead of landscape. But for Ven its otherwise.

Kays thats all!

Cuppie Cakes for Grp 11

Because I am such a nice OO. And because I was dying to try out the cupcakes recipe I've just learned.

I made cupcakes for all my little $millions. And my dance crew members too. And also fellow friends I happen to come across around IMU.

It was also Ven's 1st time on hands on cuppie cake decorating. Haha. We made those cup cakes look like christmas trees. =)

We made another batch for during his daddy's birthday too. This time we bought colouring and mix them in to create some sort of design.

All the cupcake pipping lessons didn't go to waste!.

We also baked a cake. Choco Banana. The decor is super pretty!

That's bout it. =)

Orientation MEDTCH110

Why such a long name ah? Cos its ME = Medicine, DT = Dentistry, CH = Chiropractic all three batches together. Grand total of about 300 students this time.

Time flies eh. Another year is up, another semester has graduated and another new batch of students are coming in. Me sista is one of them students. Wow. My short stay at IMU has just finished just like that.

But I have to say, before I leave, I had my fair share of fun in my last orientation ever.

It started with the usual white coat ceremony every minion in IMU has to go through. And my-oh-my, I had little idea how boring it was. Haha. If its not for the little sis, I would have went home and sleep even. But must show sisterly support!!

A new course was introduced. Chiropractic. And gosh, the dean or lecturer or whatever of chiropractic was invited to give a talk. I bet this is the 1st time in his life to shine because he took so so so so long to convey the same message. Haha.

Look at the little sister. And SweeChiang is sitting next to her. Swee Chiang the chiropractic. Haha.

Soon, all the fun started. I was assigned to group 11, who named themselves, $millions. Rich in friendship, spirit and unity. (so corny hor).Ven was with me as well. Haha. As usualy, on the 1st day, everyone was as quiet as a pea. You can even hear the coin drop on the carpeted PBL floor. Only Lydia and Esther's voice was trailing, and Ven and Arthur fighting behind. Haha.

But things change. Let me intro you to my group.

This is $millions.

We get dirty together. (Except OO's can escape cos I'm super super senior liao. Nguahahah)

Take train together

Tour KL together. Mind the girly figurine in the middle. That's Manderella (Manly Cinderella)

  And eat together.

With the group its always laughter, gossip and more laughter. We have Hulks, Shreks, Cinderellas, Choi San Yeh, Ugly Betty, Cullen etc etc.

I really didn't regret choosing to join this orientation since I have all the free time in the world.

Lets intro to you my sister with the nooby Sem 1 look.

Ahyak. So dirty.

Poor girl she. Cos she's my sister she kena double dosage of ragging. Haha.

Lil sis staring at the egg she's about to kiss with the guy. Haha. See all the black black legs behind? This is the macha station. But my group didn't really kena cos we got 2 super super senior here. Haha

Let me intro to you another character.

Super Kawaii right. I thought we are the only two old birds in this orientation. Turns out we've got company.
Jenan the infiltrator (of group 13)

I got a super cute video of him. Feast your eyes k!

Ahhhh. Jenan this is for you!!

That's about it for this orientation bah!!
