My endless love

I am absolutely excited. For two things.

No.1
I was googling lovely duets to be added to my playlist, and I came across a classic, a timeless piece of very well written duet, re-sang by the Glee cast. I did remember hearing this song while watching the show. But I always multitask while watching shows so I was only half paying attention.

Everyone have their little girl moments, where snippets of memories from the past reappears in your mind when you stumble across the simplest things in life. I remember whenever we go on road trips when I was a little girl with my family, we will blast the radio with classic songs. John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Road". Julie Covington's "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" - an Andrew Lloyd Webber Classic. And also, the duet me and my dad sing almost repeatedly on every single road trip. Diana Ross and Lionel Richie's "My Endless Love"

No.2

My parent are coming in December. I can hardly contain the excitement. I haven't seen them for 10 months now, and I miss them so much.

I still remember the very moment we waved good bye at the airport. I spent about a week just trying to get used to being a big girl and live on my own now. I believe they will be very proud of me if they could just see how much I matured throughout this 1 and half year.

April 2010. The Day I Left Malaysia.

January 2011. Year End Vacation.

FAM(ILY) "FAMILY" has 3 letters that stands for I Love You.

Yes. Absolutely excited. I just can't wait.

Wake Me Up When September Ends.

Throughout the years, my blog have been my very companion, documenting each and every aspect of my life. I remembered the very first time I blogged, it was a friendster blog, because I am always afraid I will forget the amazing things that happened to me in college, and the amazing people I met along the way.

The start of medical school brewed a new spirit in me, that inspired me to start as a new leaf. I deleted my Friendster blog (in which I regret so badly now), and embarked a new life with blogger. And here I am today, four and a half years later, still faithfully logging my thoughts into this little diary of mine.

Today, my blog grew another milestone older. It took a turn in appearance. When designing this blog template, I glanced back at my previous blog templates, and realize that, my blog matures with me as I grow up. The appearance, the outlook, the content. But some things never change, and those elements are still consistently present throughout all the new fresh layout designs, and those elements are so unique to me, it describes me as a person.

Looking back at a few of my previous blog header designs.

And today's blog design took me approximately 4 hours playing around with brushes and backgrounds. The reason why I took such a long time creating this template was because I wanted the background to me unique to me, and I wanted each element in the background to signify my life. So I took hours searching for the right pictures, thinking of what missing piece could be added.

And of course, the blog header. It has the same exact gold fonts of the previous header. Something about this font and colour screams royalty to me. And I love it a lot.

Every single item in the background has a meaning. Each piece is a part of my life.
The caduceus signifies my medical education, which is going to be the most integral piece of my life from now on.

The handheld mirror : A reflection of self.

The princess's tiara : Everyone is born special. And it is a fact that many of us tend to forget so fast.

The dandelion : Symbol of freedom. Freedom to explore the world and seize opportunities.

The high heels : A reminder to relax, and shop once in a while. That is what makes us girls happy anyways.

A husky : A faithful companion.

An abandoned sailboat : It will one day be my dream to pick up sailing again.

Mr Teddy Bear : To nver forget my roots. The place I grew up at, the people I grew up with, and the things I treasure as I was growing up.

The oriental painting : I am one proud Chinese.

Last but not the least.

The world is magical out there. But a simple cottage in a forest with a significant other (2 birds with one another) is sufficient for me.

Signing off!

Mid Autumn 2011

The name of the festival reflects the season well. It is mid-autumn after all. Last year this time, I was busy slaving away for exams, bought a box of mooncake and threw 2 away (because they weren't yummy and I couldn't finish). Made plans to have a little celebration with some friends but ended up not celebrating. Volunteered at the chinatown Jefferson booth for kids to play with some healthy eating games.

HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL!

This year, Lay Queen's mom send over mooncake and lanterns. So we had our fair bit of fun. After all, 4th year schedule is so much more relaxing. Had a little rooftop celebration, trying to keep our lanterns from being blown away by the wind or being burned.

There were originally 5 lanterns. Mr Fong burned my lantern into ashes. Sobs.

We spotted fire sparkles in chinatown when we were there for lunch in the afternoon. Fire sparkles are illegal in Malaysia, and we bought some back to play. Haha. Yay!

Multi coloured sparkles

The weather was very chilly and windy that night. We even had pop-pops to play with. Mr Fong allowed me to throw pop-pops at his body for burning my lantern. Sadist happiness. Nguahahaha.

My Sparkles!

The made-in-china mooncakes
(I hope this was not frozen and kept from last year)

Lanterns

Little Vi-Zanne came over to play with us too. Had much fun. Was a short but simple celebration.

Last mid-autumn festival, my parents saved the snow skin moon cake into the freezer so that when I was home in December I get my chance to savour the yummilicious delicacy. This year I am not so lucky. Won't be home till March of next year. Any mooncake stored in the freezer will grow fungus by then.

So I made some!

Verdict : Easy to make, smells the same, looks the same, feels the same. But somehow, doesn't really taste exactly the same. The red bean paste was self-made too, so the texture was a little different. But beats not having any to eat. Hope the rest liked it.

And once again,

HAPPY MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL TO ALL!
