City of Angels

Finally, internet connection somewhere! Just to update, I’ve been internet-less the past 2 days, because my dorm’s connections need a key encryption code and its so troublesome because I don’t have a University ID yet, so everything is not possible. Me and Zhi Ven gave up and when hunting for starbucks and Yay! Connection!

Before I start lets side track a bit.

Yay me and JessJess now is have couple camera. Actually, more like BFF camera. Happy Madness (but sobsob I not in Msia to have BFF camera sessions with her nemore. Nemai one more year!)

So lets start from the teary incident at the airport. Alright, I’m not gonna deny, the moment I left my family at the airport, I teared like bucketsful of water in the plane, at the immigration, in the train cabin. Well, I’ve been living at home for the past 3 years, and have somehow grown closer to my family.

And then, after the gates, its me and Zhi Ven all alone once again. Time for both of us to grow up and be a proper adult. Well, the plane ride is not pleasant at all. Gosh, 18 hours of time wasted just sitting in the narrow cabin, risking a DVT, and waiting in Taipei.

Sit until you "da-lan-zhan". Thank god we made a brilliant decision to stop by Los Angeles for 3 days to have some fun before coming all the way to Philadelphia. I cannot imagine going through another 8 hours of flight time immediately after the ordeal.

So, there were we, in the City of Angels. I have no idea why its called Angels. But Zhi Ven's dad's friend, Uncle Alan picked us up from the airport to his lovely home. Well, his house is exactly like in the movies. Garage and all. I was kinda acting jakun-ish a little. Roar.

Oh that's me beside the car by the way. The weather there was about 14 Celsius, been raining a few days, so it's kinda gloomy. I personally have cold-intolerance. Despite the intensive training in IMU's library, I still freezed! Hence I pulled out my new trench Momma n Pappa bought for me over the holiday period, and put it to good use. Thanks mom n dad, love ya guys.

Dinner that night was American. Burgers and fries to be precise. Daniel Tan told me before I left, "when in California, visit In-and-Out, its Godlike, and the BEST of the BESTEST burger on earth" So, for Ven's sake, we had dinner at In-and-Out. Why did I say for Ven's sake? Because they only serve 3 types of burger. Cheese Burger, Double Cheese Burger, and Burger without onions. All BEEF. And me can't eat beef. So I munch on fries and sip milkshake to fill myself. (Luckily I'm a small eater).

Uncle Alan's kids were all animal lovers. They love pets. Let me intro you to the 2 most cutest pet in their house.

Meet Lucky. . . . .

And Hammie (I dunno hammie's name so I just call Hammie k!)

So after a crazy night of sleep, and by crazy I meant that by 4am both me and Ven were awake, and were Msn-ing with our families at home, the next day, we decided to head to Universal Studio!!! But before that, breakfast at Carl's Jr.
Here's how a diner looks like. Very much like in movies eh!

Carl's Jr breakfast was awesome. American food generally taste much better in America than the franchise in Msia. Duh right, common sense. The cheese in the burger was the best man. Didn't take a picture, cos we were too hungry.

Afterwards, it was. . . . . .

UNIVERSAL STUDIO!!!!!!!!!

The place is awesome. I mean, I am a big fan of themeparks and playing dress up and lovely characters, cartoons, yada yada yada. So I was totally enjoying myself over there. TeeHee.

We met so many characters.

Shrek!
 Marilyn Monroe
Scooby Doo as well.

There was the donkey from Shrek as well, but I can't find the pictures so nvm. Haha.

And of course, its UNIVERSA STUDIO man. Famous for Movie productions. So we definitely has a guided tour around the area. Let me run you through several interesting movie sets.

The car of Batman in Dark Knight.
Flying cars from the explosion scenes in Too Fast Too Furious.
The house in Desperate Housewives.
The crashed plane in War of the Worlds.

Oh, and you know why Americans have obesity problems? Yes its the burger, yes its the fries, yes its the milkshakes and the tons of cheese cheese and cheese in every single dish. And yes its the deep fried food as well.

And check this out!
Caramelized apples. (I've seen this in Msia before, but never of such variety, and never so HUGE)
Jelly Beans in all sorts of flavours! ZOMG!

And if you're thinking, cheh this want anywhere also got wert, just Jelly beans only marh, Candy Empire in Sg also got (and btw Candy Empire import sweets from America -zip your mouth), wait till you see this.

A Gazillion selection of Jelly beans ALONE. And a bobbing head of a very happy Ven. And this is only one fraction of the shop. CRAZY man. (If you're still not impress don't be potong and just click the red box on top kthxbye)

Ven and Chucky. I dunno why but he loves eery character. =( He keeps bugging me to watch Nightmare on Elm's Street which is coming out soon in America.

Oh and I found this lovely cute bottle in US (US is for Universal Studio btw, at first when people kept asking me am I visiting US in LA I got a bit confused like, I am in US d wert, what mean visit US again?)
And my family says I SUPER DUPER LOOK LIKE MY SIS here. So much so my sister has doubts if she sleep walked to America or not. Hahaha.

That's how I spend my 1st and 2nd day in Tian Shi Cheng (City of Angels).

Greetings from LA

Its 14 degree Celsius here and the weather is cold. To me at least. Cos I am the kind who is afraid of cold weather.

Well what have I got to say, let me see. The plane ride all the way here is traumatizing. The seats have limited space for legs, and the Indian lady in front of me is sick, so she slumps her chair all the way down, making it super super narrow for me. I was so paranoid Imma getting DVT so I keep moving and moving. Sleeping in the place is no fun too. The food was alright. Plane food never really improve much neways.

LA is just like in movies. The houses are bungalow's next to each other. There is a driveway, a garage and all, really nice. Will try to get a picture tomorrow or later or something.

Alright. Short update. Gimme 3 days to have fun in LA and will update full blast once I reache Philly.

xoxo!

Leaving with a heavy heart

It's not my first time leaving Msia to pursue my studies. But somehow, this time my heart feels ten thousand times heavier. Or maybe even a millions times. The difference between leaving now, and leaving then is the bonds I've made throughout these four years. These bonds are strengthened so much more such that the chains are heavier.

I am not given a choice. I need to leave. I need to pursue a bright future. I need to throw behind people I love, people I've spend my entire life time with, people who know me, people who are true friends, in exchange for meeting new uncertain people in a foreign land. I know I am super weird. I bet I'm the only silly person who doesn't look forward to this new adventure. But USA is such a far away place, and the air tix cost a bomb. Coming home often isn't really an option. If I knew departing would be such an emotional roller coaster for me I might have even consider opting for S'ban instead.

Today, is the day I depart, and at this precise moment, I am probably sitting in the plane, face soaked full of tears. I admit, I'm emotional and I wanna tell you all, that I'm leaving with such a heavy heart. In fact, tears are forming in my eyes as I type this. The past few months doesn't seem enough to redeem back the time that I am not able to spend with you overseas. I may miss out a lot, may not be there for you through thick and thin, but I will definitely feel your absence.

To my beloved Mom and Dad. Do keep me updated about every single thing that happened in your life. I regret not being able to be there for festive celebrations or familiar dinners. I love you two a lot and after all that I've been through you were always there for me.

To my lovely Sister, do take good care. Learn to be independent and try not to trouble momma n papa too much. Have fun experimenting with my sacrificial clothes but don't spoil them alright. Learn how to use a webcam too and don't forget to take many pictures to keep me updated with the Skinny Pinky. I will really miss those sister cam-whorish moments and the Lala 123.

To Jessica, quit your job. And don't overwork yourself. Must go online all the time okay, and get a BB so we can BBmsg each other. I really wish we can do another Singapore trip someday again zomg it was so fun. Save lotsa money to come find me in USA k.

To my Secondary School friends, please take a lot of pictures and post them online whenever there is a gathering and I can't be there. Do update more on FB and Msn and keep in touch alright. Gosh I will miss those late yumcha nights and karaoke sessions we always have.

To my other friends, take good care and keep in touch. Till we meet again folks.

Lets hope that in an eye-blink's time I will be back again. One year from now to be precise. I therefore bid everyone a temporary farewell, and all the best. I'll update more often to keep everyone posted of my life's up and downs. And do let me know if you notice I've grown fatter (my biggest phobia). Lets look forward to meeting again!

Time to take care of the waterfalls on my face. . . . . .

Third is a magic number.

I have purposely arranged my secondary school friend's gathering back to back so that one can see how frequent we are meeting up prior to my departure. I promise though, this is the last of all.

Now I love karaokes. Like super love to the max kinda love. But I haven't gone to one in months. There were always the initially talks about it, or the half plans, or the spontaneous suggestions, but they kinda never ever materialize.

Thank god the last meeting Miss Chean Voon wasn't able to make it. Because then, we had a karaoke session planned. Yippee times three!!

Okay, actually the session was supposed to be 6pm-12am. But everyone was working. Hence we only decided to meet at 8pm. Then again, most of them were late as usual. Malaysian timing. Haha. But its okay, I arrived with LooYee exactly at 8pm and binged on the buffet dinner because we were starving. (Buffet sucks btw)

Whoalla super a lot of food ALL MINE!! Listened to JayChou while binging!

And then more and more people came. So big yay-sies. We sang and sang and sang our hearts out.

Lalala

We were so happy in our little karaoke world, that we begged the waitress to extend our session to 1am. And he said we could. But all of the sudden, the tv stopped playing our selected music videos. And Fish Leong was there singing to some song I never heard before (pardon my chinese music knowledge) and walking around RedBox with super enthusiastic waiters (cheat people one) waving at her side.

So we argued and argued with the waiters that we were supposed to sing till 1am. But ahhh, they are sneaky beings, they early early already write on our slips that its only until 11pm in a super messy cursive handwriting impossible to be readable by man. So no choice, we have to stop our singing.

But we refuse to budge, hence we sat inside the room refusing to let them continue with their business with other clients. Ahya I also didn't know I can think so childishly. But really pissed off then.

In the end, we loitered around Curve taking pictures. Which proved to be fun after all. So no harm done, no harm done.

Okay maybe a lot of people were staring when we were hogging the stairway. But who cares, its not everyday you get to do something like this. The lightings were too dark though. Most of the pictures turned up blurred and shaky. And since there were 5 of us left (KitLeong went home early) it was almost impossible to get everyone to sit still. One person will end up looking like a shadow, or a ghost.

And at one point of time, everyone wanted a "Xin Guang Da Dao" picture. At first I didn't really catch the meaning. But I figured it to be some Oscar Red Carpet walk kinda picture. So yea.

Oscar Picture Major Fail.

But guess what, I am good I can make it win win win.

Win max!!! Gonna miss you guys.

Hence, another gathering. This time @ WongKok, ss2.

We always go to ss2 I dunno why.

Sorry girl. You refuse to let me take your picture so I need to take a candid shot.

And there's a round 2 at A&W.

Hot and Sweaty Bazaar

The only time I regret ever buying so so so so SO many clothes, is when I need to pack for the States. I just want to transfer my entire wardrobe there actually, plus my house and family and friend, and maybe the Honda City and One Utama, and BonBon.

But I can't. So I separated everything into 3 piles. The "must-bring" pile, the "KIV" pile and the "sacrificial leave in Msia" pile and the "sell" pile. Oops. That makes four actually.

In the end I only can fit the "must-bring" and maybe a quarter of "KIV" pile. Haihz. The rest, I tried to sell off at a bazaar. Owh. It was a bazaar held at Ministry of Sound. Nowadays the "IN" thing is to have bazaar's at clubs I dunno why. Got aircon plus nice lighting (actually very dark till cannot see clothes well lor). And free flow of alcoholic drinks. In the day summore.

My booth back view

My booth front view.

If you're thinking WASAI this girl got so many clothes bags shoes to sell please pause there for a moment. Haha. To be able to be a vendor at MOS you need to be famous and be specially invited. But you see hor. . .  I am the laziest blog shop owner ever. Spring Fairy is probable only updated once every 3 months. So how did we get a spot leh???

Answer lies in . . . . .

Cocogoddess was invited. Aka Jolene was invited, but its really expensive for one person to swallow the entire booth rental, so we shared booth. After all there was enough space for us to put 4 racks anyways. Jolene picked the outside booths cos inside was dark and gloomy. Only problem is, it was VERY EXTREMELY HOT!

Sweated like a drenched pig there n then.

HueyNing was there to help me out too. After all we're co-owners of SF. =)

I met SO MANY people there. 1st there was Charlie from M207 who is there with his GF. And then I met Hui Xin and her friend who won the grand prize of lucky draw. Wah she damn lucky wei. GRAND PRIZE. Got Paris Hilton bag, free movie passes to GSC, Celebrity Fitness membership. Where can ????

I also met baby's high school friends XinYi and ChoonYeauw (dunno how to spell).

Me and my clothes (can see I sold one leggings by then d hehe)

Not bad, made quite some profit that day. Only problem is that, we were not told initially that Food and Drinks are not allowed to be sold at all. So we made mad chio cupcakes and mad tasty ice lemon tea only to realise our efforts go to waste. Well, we did recover the cost back of out unsold food and drinks though.

Mad Chio Cupcakes

Last pic of the post. 3 of us!!

Picture Perfect

All the thoughts about leaving. Makes us all afraid of the future. Just want to capture the moment.

Photobucket

And we did. I  My Family.
