Back to School

Just as everyone is afraid of. Start of term is here. And my one week of absense in this blog kinda dictates how busy I am every weekday. My day in uni start at latest 8-9 plus in the mornings, and ends at 1030pm. Making me wake up at least before 7am everyday and go to bed at 1am all fatigue and tired.

N.e.e.d t.o b.r.e.a.t.h

However is all these huzzle and buzzle of life that makes life interesting, and takes your mind away from all the miserable thoughts. Not that I needed any, but life is just never fair.

So lets peek at how my timetable goes. Monday morning was a day I need to get up an some un-god-ly hour, because Zhiven has basketball training at like 7 in the morning?!?!? Damn you all basketballers better be grateful if its not for me you wont see your captain on monday morning. (Expects showerings of thank-you's and gifts)

Haha, subsequently my days were filled with activities like that. It's either volleyball practise, cheerleading practises (yes it started already), dance practises, basketball practises (please don't even get me started on why I have to be on the team) or dwelling over un-studied lecture notes (have I nerrdify or what)

So bottomline is. I am super duper busy I cant breath.

But our practise sessions did pay off last Wednesday. It was our first volleyball match against pharmacy people. Oh god my leg shivered on court that day. We were SO CLOSE TO LOSING. We played till the third match and won with a super close margin of 25-23. Hooray!!

Double hooray actually because our guys team won as well, with the exact same close margin-ness as us with their opponent team. Are we united or what. LOL.

The guys before their match. They were doing a whoosh with a "Diaaaaaaaaa-Mooonnnnddddss" It's really hilarious.

Now comes the story behind the Diamonds whoosh. If you all have been an avid reader, you would know Diamonds is the name of my batch's cheerleading team. And how did I pick the name, oh well, blame it on the laziness to mix songs, I simply reap a pre-mix song I found on the internet by an international team called Diamonds and just conveniently named my own team Diamonds so that the song seem personalised to us. Little would I know the name will actually become a BATCH NAME!! LOL. Imagine if it's a basketball match, a whole group of big sized macho guys go DIAMONDS in a whoosh. I can laugh I tell you. *oh I got a stitch*

Our guys during the match
Our supporters!!! Petite little Chloey-Doey who came all the way in her little heels to sweat and cheer!!! (proud of you la), Seeki (or else known as Cheeky or Lucia) and Ada. They both didn't stay for the girls match la. Sob Sob

The girl's team before the match. (Spot me I'm number 9!!)

After the match. We both won!!! Weee

Girl's team

My story My story My pre-exam story

This is the story of my life.

I wake up, brush teeth (with notes in hand), go to uni (with notes in hand), camp in library (reading notes), go for lunch (with notes in hand), camp in library some more, go for dinner (with notes in hand), go home, study study, then sleep (with notes in hand).

AND I TOTALLY LOVE MY REGIME EVERYDAY. *cough cough* It makes me feel more like what I should be -- A medical student. A NERDY STUDIOUS medical student. *welcome to my life*

and I love seeing my notes sprawled all over the table, makes me feel like I have achieved a lot a lot, and I enjoy feeling the panic when people blurt some medical term in which its SO IMPORTANT but I have never heard it before. I love it even more when what I study actually doesn't stay in my brain, so I get to read the notes one more time again. So fun So fun.

And I UBER LOVE feeling guilty for blogging right now when I should rightfully be studying!!!

It's all about thinking positively. And it's all about the love for doing what you're doing.

The food to accompany me through my journey of JOY

What I usually end up doing instead of studying

My new best friend in the library (sorry ShuYee)

The end result of studying too much

What I do when I get too bored of studying

What I do when I am NOT studying

Since I love this whole studying process so much, and since I study better downstairs at my living room, I officially shifted my bed downstairs. Or rather, I made the couch my bed at night. Am I a nerd or am I a nerd or am I a nerd???? (So proud of myself larh)

My new bedroom

New way to eat Kinder Bueno. Smash everything up inside and suck it like you're sucking Choki. I call this the NERD METHOD. (okay not funny, but it taste realllllyyyy gooooooooooddd)

Now you all know why I love STUDYING SO MUCH RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?

I think I have officially made library my house. Isn't it fun to have such a nice home, to just sit down and spread all your belongings over every possible surface area and take up as much space as you want, and to have your VERY VERY LOYAL SON *inside joke* to push your chair in for you so that you can rest your leggies. And when you get hungry, just reach out your hands and grab a bar of chocolate to munch on.

And when you get sleepy? You freaking sleeeeeeeeeeeeepppppp. There. Just like that. *snaps*

Then you go out with your "family" for dinner together-gether, so united, so warm and so ber-family. Favourite family food? Keropok Lekor and Nasi Goreng Ayam. And Limau Ais.

So there's like 2 more days for this HAPPINESS OF MINE to last, and another 6 more days for it to OFFICIALLY END.

Then the REAL REAL REAL FUN BEGINS. *pray I pass pray I pass IjustwanttoseeaConmyresultslip*

*my room aircon spoiled. I shifted downstairs to sleep for the aircon btw. In case you guys really think I am sick*

Diffential Diagnosis Anyone?!

A 16 year old female patient presents with recurrent episodes of fever. She also complains about headaches and malaise. She mentioned that few days back she had a rash outbreak starting from the lower limbs spreading to her body and upper limbs.

After completing a complete blood count, her leukocyte level dropped a little below normal, and her platelet count was low.

Day 2, her platelet count dropped a little more further. And on Day 5 her whole body presents with maculopapular rash.

Differential diagnosis??

It's dengue.

My sister has dengue.

But she is fully recovered already. Thanks god. There were endless nights Not-Being-Able-To-Study because every half an hour my mom burst into my room asking things like "rash means what? good or bad?"

It sucks being a not-yet-a-doctor, but your parents assume you know every medical condition under the sun.

Now now if only my sister had dengue (touch wood) before my Haemato GIT exams I would have aced that paper, because right now I am super pro at dengue!!

*winks*

Studious pei pei = Cannot make it

I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study I Can't Study

And I am so good at ranting.

This whole trying-to-turn-myself-into-a-full-time-nerd-thing isn't working.

Despite being disciplined to set time for studies everyday, and actually camping at my study table for like 2 hours with papa patho open, I still don't study.

I day dream about everything under the sun. And end up finishing only one note every 3 days (collectively).

Otherwise, I'll be distracted by every possible item around my table. *And I already switched off my comp*
Camwhoring when I right fully should be spending the time staring at my notes.

Otherwise I'll be playing with nails and nail polish. (This pic shows the removal of my current nail art. Oh, the heart ache. *damn CSU* )

And yes, I'm still on haemopoiesis 1. Because nothing went in the 1st round.

But despite all the Not-Studying, I still sinfully indulge myself in ice-cream, which is supposedly a reward for studying. But I did not study at all. So its a FREAKING SIN SIN SIN SIN SIN. Not to mention FAT FAT FAT. *thank god for dance competition - big phew*

And I dabao-ed 2 tubs of ice-cream so that I can reward myself when I actually do study. (I have this feeling it wont work)

The huge crowd in Baskin Robbins on a 31st. *Man these ppl are kiasu*So are we. (Our 1/2 gallon tub of ice-cream)
Indulging
And very soon, after all that fat-sinful indulging act of devouring ice-cream, Abdi gets the joy of licking it clean.

On an unrelated note. My uncle had his kidney's removed. This is not a random statement, but a serious condition. He now has to undergo dialysis to survive. Haihz, so young kiddo's out there, watch what you eat. Don't smoke, and don't go on sugary diet *gives myself 2 self slaps*. And go for regular check ups.

But the main interesting point is, check out his medicine.

Prolly seems like no biggie in this pic. But wait till you see a close up view. It has freaking crickets in it. CRICKETS the BUGG.. Man, the things chinese people eat just to stay alive.
Crickets (ew..)

And I've got new shades.

Adios.

God is kind, yet cruel.

God is kind to spare me this time round. Like they say, miracles do happen. I could've swore I counted my marks to be way less than half the total paper. (50% is pass you see) There was no way I could've passed the last exam. But I guess I am a little lucky. Perhaps I got a little pity mark here and there, and half marks for those semi-wrong answers. But it was so close. A little more mistake would have made me a failure.

But I am so not happy with myself. This is by far the worse results I have ever got in my term in IMU. (I got a C) I could've have done a lot better. However I am really motivated to study even harder right now. I want to know how it feels to see an A in my exams result slip. I want to have that estatic feeling.

On an unrelated note -> Way before our exams, Kherlik said " After exams, lets go .... (all of us thought it was going to be some big plan) .... eat pork noodle"
A big -.-'' spreaded across all of our faces.

But here we were, quite some time ago. At Tawau's pork noodle in Sg.Long.

And to end it with my usual dose of

Nail art.

Oh and before I end this post. I need to blog about something.

I saw Amber Chia today. *or rather I THINK its her*. With a whole lot of cute guys.
We (Me Chloe and ShuYee) were happily shopping in Bangsar. And just as we were about to leave, we waited at the lift to go to the carpark. And suddenly a swarm of very good looking people, in very formal attire and very heavy make up walked passed us. And when the lift door opened, there were another swarm of good looking people inside. And so we entered the lift, and AmberChia/lookalike asked me what floor. I was so blur I kept staring at her.

Lol

Thats all for now. Thank you.

Sneak preview. Orientation

So far, Orientation for the M208's has started. Well, very nicely timed indeed, just when it has to clash with examinations.

So, as part of my group's member, I need to impart camwhoring skills in them. Haha.

Joking lar. Just a few pictures taken while we were bored. Will tell the whole orientation story when I no longer need to feel guilty sitting in front of the computer.

Start of Uni and Huey Ning's Bday

Uni finally started. I have gotten used to the fact that I can no longer escape the daily early crawl at like 9 plus. And also the fact that I can't run away from Htin Aung. (Tell you the big deal of that later)

But, what really shocked me into waking up even earlier (so that I can take 40 minutes traveling to uni at 60 km/h) is that I nearly got into a fatal accident.

I woke up late on Valentines Day. Nope I did not do any naughty things the night before, and nope I don't have a boyfriend. That's not the point. When you wake up late you rush through everything. So I rush to uni driving very fast. Then my bag of chocolate fell of the seat, so I picked them up, only to realize I was heading to a cornering way too fast. So, brake lo. But something went wrong somewhere (though I can't really recall much) and my car skidded across the highway. THANKFULLY there weren't other cars around and THANKFULLY the road way wide enough.

Man I got a bad scare.

My car totally changed directions.

I sat in the middle of the highway, faced in the opposite direction for like a whole ten minutes, ignoring the hons and ponks of other cars. And yes, I was very late for lecture that day.

Moving on to more positive things. We finally had Huey Ning's surprise party (although it nearly got called of thanks to the birthday girl herself).

We had a steamboat-ish celebration. Home-made, and absolutely delicious. Yum yum.

1st up, we bluffed Ning that we were going for a normal dinner. Then, we fetched her, abducted her, bullied her, blindfold her, and told her we were heading for China.

Mind you she wasn't a very pleasant victim. She kicked and struggled. Okay more like she made fun of the whole ordeal, trying to get herself un-blindfolded, but failed miserably while we all end up laughing like non-stop, at her clown-ish act.

Our effort paid off in the end. She was surprised. And loved every part to her heartiesdeariescherries.

Glad you loved it dear!

Have you ever witness you own lecturer dance? Man, I have, my very first too. And the whole Htin Aung ordeal is coming up.

Now now, bet you every college/uni/school/campus has their own very famously fearsome lecturer/teacher/staff. Htin Aung is the most famous in my uni, for his ability to pinch people's cheeks, and shout "you are stupid" straight at your face.

No one expects him to DANCE.

My clinical report ( in which I simply do so chin-chai-ly) came back with a BIG "See Me , HA"

Heart beat racing, mind wishing I've paid more attention to the report, I met him.

He gave me a whole long huge talk (talk, not a lecture, he's quite nice one-to-one) about how medical personalities cannot think outside the box.

Htin Aung : " Imagine I am a choreographer, I can make my dance steps look like this"
*stood up and strike a ballet pose*
"Or I might want to dance a fast beat like this"
*scoots across the room in a funny-but-cannot-make-it-attempt hip-hopish movement*

My jaw just dropped. He goes through that much of an extent trying to prove a point that medical students should not think out of the box unlike other professions. (because if drug A is tested effective against some disease, you will only administer drug A, but not drug Z cos if you do that it'll kill the patient, hence cannot-think-outside-box)

I foresee a very interesting PBL session coming monday.

war zone|

THIS IS WAR I TELL YOU

one step closer I'll tug your hair, scratch you face, and pull your fake eyelashes out!!!

calm down people.. I am just joking. But this has been my life, and will continue to be. Although I may seem relaxed and easy going, but life, is a war for me. I am always fighting for everything.

I fight against my will to resist temptations, fight to convince myself to stare for hours at lecture notes. Fight with my parents over really ridiculous things, fight to stay awake during late nights, fight for my cheerleading team's attention during trainings, fight to win volleyball matches, fight for friends and fight with them too.

Life is tiring isn't it. Why can't everyone live in peace and harmony.

Usually when exams are round the corner, my blogging frequency increases. Mainly because I use blogging as an excuse from studying. More like the "okay I blog a bit bit bit then I go study" kinda thing.

So that explains what I am doing here. With my fingers running and skidding across the keypad.

Volleyball is over. My team lost 2 games and won 1. The one we won was really a big scare for me. We should never underestimate the opponents however bad they are, cos thats what we did, and we lost the 1st set to them. Thankfully we recovered quick enough to finish off the game with a win. But then again, we wont make it into semi's anymore. Bye Bye volleyball.

Starbucks frapp is my new fave. It keeps me awake during late nights when I burn the midnight oil. Pity it is way too costly for my to indulge in everyday.

As for cheerleading, I am so screwed. But I think I'll managed to pull through. The best decision I made, was to put Chloe in charge of dances. I am so thankful for that, cos now, I wont be the only one worrying endlessly alone, I have company. >smiles<>

My social life, is currently zero. Unless u count visiting a friend in hospital as one. TY caught a fever and got admitted into hospital. So HueyNing and I decided to pop by to say hi, and ended up spending 4 hours there due to the rain. We were so proud of ourselves to be able to rely on public transportation to reach Assunta Hospital. But Malaysian public transportation is a sore in the arse. Its so slow, that you'll rot waiting for it. When will Malaysia ever change?

There are a few people who I am so so so sick of right now. That I wont elaborate. Cos they're a pain to mention, and my blog is not worth for their names to be mentioned.

As for steamboat on last Sat, (yes I had steamboat) pictures are still with Christy. And I will talk about it when I get the pics.

That's all thats going through my life currently.

Right now, tata. Off to the land of lecture notes!!

zombie-ing

Here I am, sitting in front of my Dell Latitude D610. Typing what seems to be an extremely long draggy day of mine.

Let start with what happened at 12am in the morning ( its when the day starts anyway ). Chloe slept over at my place again. We were on full study mode and drilled lecture notes after lecture notes.

Then the narcolepsy in me settled in at around 1am. In order to prevent sleeping, we cooked mushroom soup to drink. I think it didn't really worked it instead amplify the sleepiness.

Chloe's lousy attempt at trying to take an embarrassing candid shot of me sleeping.

Thats the pig who stayed at my house for those 2 nights.

I can practically hear her screaming right now if she reads this. "Pei-Wen!! How can you put such a PIGGLY pic of me!! AArgh my arm look SO FATT!!"

Don't worry dear you look sweet and cute here larrr...

Anyway, my point is that I eventually spent the whole night online, and had a mere 4 hours of sleep. ( I need 8 hours cos i am a pig )

So in the morn, woke up at weee hour of 7am, reached uni at 8am, slept at Chloe's for a while, walked groggily to PBL at 9am, sat through the entire boring lesson, had CSU at 1030am, ate lunch, and then head of to the library to "ATTEMPT" to study... What a futile effort it was.. I slept in the library the whole time, only waking up between intervals to walk to the washroom, or to read 1 sentence of my notes.

Speaking of CSU (clinical skills unit), today's CSU was far more interesting and funnier. Which was a good thing because it managed to keep me awake the whole time.

We learn how to use an auroscope ---> the thingi you put into your ear to see the eardrum and its adnormalities.

Of cause all of us had normal ear drums.. But some of my fellow friends were funny though.

One of them had a lot of ear wax, and the lecturer that facilitated us was like "hey all of you come here n see ear wax". It felt pretty odd though, like we want to see disgusting ear wax, and the poor girl had to sit there still for so long for all 7 of us to finish looking at her ear wax, not to mention bearing the embarrassment too.

Then we learn how to examine people's mouth. We were required to work in pairs for that. Now this time round I was the victim. When my mouth was widely open with a spatula inserted in my cheek, the lecturer decided to walk by. Then she peeked into my mouth and said " Hey come see her sublingual gland!! Its a pretty subulingual gland" Then poor me have to open my mouth for so so so so long for everyone to peek into it!!

And then we were taught how to feel for pulses. Now everyone should know where your radial pulse is (the one on your wrist) and carotid pulse ( the one on your neck ). Today we were taught how to feel the rest of the pulses. There one at the ankle, one at the leg, one at the knee etc etc etc (I won't want to bore you with that).

Now there is one very interesting pulse that caught everyone's attention. The femoral pulse ( inner thigh, next to the male's groin ). So you can now see the awkwardness of the situation. One of my group people Jon just kept laughing and laughing!!! There was a simulated patient with us, and my lecturer was so ignorant about caring his feeling she just said "okay now take of your pant, yeapz, lower some more, wait thats enough, oooh cover cover cover okay"

She felt for his femoral pulse, and asked everyone to do the same. OH-MY-THE-AWKWARDNESS-GAWD!! I was very afraid he was going to have an erection when girls were feeling his femoral pulse. It happened before to seniors. >pray pray<

He didn't erect lar for your info, but oh well, the things we future-doctors get to do. Wait till i experience ladies' vagina inspection!!!

wishing for something

Do you ever feel that, you need something big to happen in your life after this long long period of the same old routine happening over and over again??

I get that kind of feeling everytime after movies. >BIG FAT SIGH< why must my life be so boring?

When I finished high school musical, I wished so badly I was in the school's drama team or something, and when I finished secret, I wished i could land a gig in performing something music oriented.

But sadly, life is not going in such a direction for me. I used to have big things to do. Sailing competitively. I so love that life. Sailing -- people get jealous of me, people envy my skills, people think I am awesome for doing such an extraordinary sport.

Now? I am plain old me, studying, sleeping, eating. Leading an ordinary life.

SIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

So let me illustrate my plain old ordinary past few days.

The last two days was hospital visit day. BORING I tell you. I am so so so so dissapointed with the state of Malaysian hospitals.

We were practically thrown in a ward with absolutely nothing to do at all. NOTHING (note the capital letters)

So we amused ourselves and walk around aimlessly, looking like doctors (in our big over-sized white coats) with our stethoscope hanging in our pockets, loitering in hospital corridors.

PATHETIC. IMU is such a "wonderful" medical uni.

Of course. When girls get bored, they cam-whore.

TADA.. *poor jon-jon's phone*

So, yea..
